how about this
we come up with a programme of political reform - reassertion of social justice, cancellation of 3rd world debt, emissions reduction, funding research into non-fossil energy etc. etc. etc. etc. short enough but clear - a summary of the progressive agenda with teeth.
then we publish it online and publicise it virally. anyone who agrees is invited to donate £1 and spread the word. when we've got a million quid or whatever, we donate it to the labour party specifically in order to buy their influence, in exactly the way that businesses contribute to political parties. it would be even more interesting to do this kind of thing in the states. eventually we get a £1 donation from every progressive with a credit card on the planet and just bribe governments to stand up, use their power, and do the right thing.
